Marcus Johansson: ‘A little weird' to play against Devils

Marcus Johansson has been a member of the Boston Bruins for just two games. The versatile winger was acquired from the New Jersey Devils just ahead of the 2019 NHL trade deadline and has slotted in alongside David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk on the Bruins' second line.

In the third game of Johansson's Bruins career, he is going to be facing a familiar foe: his former team, the Devils. The Bruins are playing host to them on Saturday evening.

Ahead of the matchup with the Devils, Johansson spoke about playing his old squad so soon after being traded, per the Bruins' official Twitter.

I think it’s going to be a little weird. I obviously made a lot of good friendships. You know, it’s going to be weird. I got to do it went I went to Jersey and played Washington so I kind of know the feeling a little bit. It’s going to be a bit odd at first.

Johansson also talked about his chemistry with his new linemates, DeBrusk and Krejci, and what it has been like to play alongside them.

Over the last two games, I feel like it’s just gotten better and better and Jake and Krejci are two fun players to play with. So, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun and if we keep playing like that, there’s going to be a lot of goals too.

Saturday would be a good time for Johansson to notch his first goal in a Bruins uniform. If he can score against his former team, Bruins fans will go wild and Johansson will continue to earn the trust of his linemates.
