SEATTLE -- Three thoughts from the Red Sox' 2-0 victory over the A's on Wednesday afternoon in Oakland:
1) Sandoval's defense at third has been first-rate.
At the tail end of the Red Sox' last road trip, Koji Uehara blew a save in the 10th inning in a loss to the Orioles at Camden Yards.
BOSTON -- Only last Saturday night, Koji Uehara's fastball velocity was missing and his blown save seemed to call into question his capability as a successful closer.
BOSTON -- The Red Sox were encouraged by what they saw from closer Koji Uehara Monday night. Uehara was efifcient (14 pitches for three outs) and his fastball velocity was slightly improved.
