Federal appeals court rules Cowboys RB Elliott can play Sunday

A federal appeals court has ruled that Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott can play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs in Dallas.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York on Friday temporarily blocked a lower-court ruling that required Elliott to begin serving a six-game suspension. It said this order does not constitute a resolution on the merits of the court case. This ruling puts the stay in place pending an opportunity for a three-judge “motions panel”  to consider the issue.

Elliott was suspended in August after the NFL investigated several alleged physical confrontations that occurred in 2016 with Elliott's girlfriend at the time.
