Daniel Bard earns MLBPA's NL Comeback Player of the Year award

Daniel Bard's improbable return to the majors quietly was one of the best stories of the 2020 MLB season.

Bard began his career with the Boston Red Sox as an intriguing pitching prospect in 2009. A bad case of the yips forced him out of the league in 2013, and the 35-year-old has spent his time since then trying to make a comeback.

Mission accomplished.

Bard joined the Colorado Rockies bullpen for the 2020 campaign, posting a 3.65 ERA in 24 2/3 innings pitched. On Thursday, he was named the MLBPA's National League Comeback Player of the Year.

Now that's inspiring.

San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers and Atlanta Braves outfielder Adam Duvall were the other nominees for the award.
