A documentary on the original Dream Team -- the USA Basketball team that destroyed every other national team in its path on the way to a gold medal -- will air tonight on NBA TV. Dan Patrick had three members of that team on his show today to look back on the summer of 1992 in Barcelona.
One of the biggest controversies facing the team wasn't about what they did on the floor, but who made up the roster. Isaiah Thomas was one of the best in the NBA at the time, yet he was left off. David Robinson said he never really knew why, and never really cared. Charles Barkley says it was pretty much understood that Isaiah didn't get the call because Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen didn't want to play with him.
The conversation with Karl Malone was much lighter. Patrick asked the Mailman which of the Dream Teamers -- other than himself and longtime teammate John Stockton -- would be his choice to start a team. His answer will most certainly surprise you . . .
