Colabello hip checks Bogaerts down first base line

Hockey season is just around the corner, and although Canada is rallying around its lone baseball team in Toronto, perhaps they got a little preview of what's to come on the ice.

Unfortunately it came at the expense of Xander Bogaerts.

In the eighth inning, Bogaerts grounded down the first base line to Chris Colabello, who couldn't make a clean play on the ball. As the ball trickled away from him and down the first base line towards Bogaerts, Colabello raced after it and scooped it up just before coming in contact with Bogaerts.

Bogaerts tried to jump around and over Colabello and reach for the base, but Colabello stuck out his lower body and reached around his back to tag Bogaerts, who hit the ground pretty hard.

Bogaerts would hobble off the field, but he'd return to the field in the bottom of the inning.

I'm not sure how clean the play is in hockey, never mind baseball. But all joking aside, Colabello didn't intend to hurt Bogaerts.

Here's the clip.
