Want an idea of how much Kemba Walker means to the Charlotte area? Check out Cody Zeller's sneakers Thursday night.

Zeller, who was Walker's Hornets teammate for the last six seasons, will rock custom shoes for Thursday's game against the Boston Celtics that emphasize Walker's staying power in Charlotte.

Here's a look at the kicks:

The "BBBS" stands for Charlotte's Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter, where Walker frequently volunteered while playing with the Hornets.

(More on Walker's work with BBBS in the video player above.)

And those messages on the sneakers? They're handwritten notes from four kids Walker was mentoring at Big Brothers Big Sisters at the time he left for Boston.

"Thank you for everything Kemba. Our time may have been cut short but the memories and friends we made will stay for years to come," one of the messages reads, per ESPN.com.

The sneakers, hand-painted by local artist Ryan Bare, also feature a drawing of the Charlotte skyline with the words, "We Miss You Kemba."

Pretty cool, right?

Walker developed a loyal following in Charlotte both for his All-Star-level play and his extensive work in the community, and Zeller's shoes are a great nod to the latter.
