Chiarelli admits ‘nothing has changed' with Thomas

Peter Chiarelli hasnt seen the Facebook post where Tim Thomas attempted to explain his reasoning behind taking the season off.
Perhaps the general manager hasnt been accepted by the idealistic goaltender as a Facebook friend, but more likely Chiarelli really doesnt need to hear a message thats already been delivered to the Bruins.
The friends, family and faith message from Thomas is one that the Bs front office is clearly well aware of.
I havent seen his infamous Facebook post. Im aware of it, said Chiarelli. Ive talked to his agent in the last little bit, and nothing has changed. If youre asking me, Has he clarified that hes not playing for the year... hes stated that through his agent that hes not playing for the year.
I guess thats where that stands. But nothing has really changed since the last time I spoke to the media.
Chiarelli got the message loud and clear from Thomas agent Bill Zito that the 38-year-old goaltender didnt intend to play in the 2012-13 season, and would instead work out on his own in his new home state of Colorado. Nothing has changed in Chiarellis mind when it comes to the status of Thomas, but he did admit that the curious decision by the two-time Vezina Trophy winner did change their offseason strategy plan.
Im operating under the premise that our goalies will be Tuukka (Rask) and Anton (Khudobin), so yeah it will have an impact because Tim wont be playing for us. There is a wholeIm not going to tell you everythingbut there are a whole host of things that trickle down from that one event.
In the short answer, yes Thomas walking for the year has had an impact.
The greatest impact appears to be a renewed stress on keeping together rest of the Bruins team around their young goaltender, and fielding a balanced hockey club capable of playing effective offense and responsible defense in front of goaltenders that are going to need a little help at times.
