The NHL announced Thursday Bruins captain Zdeno Chara has been named a finalist for the Norris Trophy,which is given to the league's top defenseman.
Charahad a career-high 52 points this season, fourth-best among all defensemen, and tied for third among all players with a plus-33. Chara also used his monster frame to lead the Bruins with 166 hits.
Chara will join Patrice Bergeron, finalist for the Selke Trophy, as the Bruins representatives at the NHL awards ceremony June 20 in Las Vegas.
