A 2011 Mercedes Maybach registered to New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes was abandoned near the scene of an I-495 crash on Sunday morning.
Auto security company OnStar informed Massachusetts State Police that the driver of the vehicle says they hit a deer, but no deer was found in the area.
Another vehicle reported being rear-ended nearby. The three passengers in the vehicle were treated at the hospital. A connection between the two incidents has yet to be made.
It is not clear if Spikes was the operator of the Maybach or if it was the same vehicle that hit the other car. Police say an investigation is underway.
