Brian Cashman says the Yankees are a “fully operational Death Star”

What else would you expect from the general manager of the franchise dubbed the "Evil Empire" by Red Sox fans?

Speaking at MLB's Winter Meetings Wednesday, Brian Cashman went all-in on the "Star Wars" analogy when he talked about whether or not the Yankees were interested in shelling out big bucks to Bryce Harper.

"If something doesn't make sense today, it doesn't mean it won't make sense tomorrow," Cashman said. "All I can keep telling you is, you know where my current focuses are, but at the same time we're a fully operational Death Star."

With the Yankees' deep pockets and motivation to win now, especially after their archrivals both eliminated them from the postseason and went on to win the World Series, Cashman could make a flurry of moves in the offseason. After all, he's already added James Paxton and is on the verge of re-signing J.A. Happ, so adding Harper or Manny Machado wouldn't be a huge surprise.

But maybe Cashman should also make some time to go through the "Star Wars" movies, so he could find out what actually happened to the Death Star
