Former Red Sox pitcher Bob Stanley has been named president of the New Hampshire Seacoast Mavericks. The Futures Collegiate Baseball League is entering its inaugural season.

The team made their announcement of Stanley's promotion on Monday. He had previously been named to the team's two member board of directors.

Stanley pitched for the Red Sox from 1977 until 1989. He was inducted to the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2000. Stanley is second in all-time saves on the Sox behind Jonathan Papelbon.
