BOSTONThe Boston Celtics' playoff series shifts back home, and the first game may be against an Atlanta Hawks team without their best player in the series, Josh Smith.

The 6-foot-9 forward suffered a sprained left tendon in the fourth quarter of Boston's 8780 Game 2 victory Tuesday night.

Smith is considered day-to-day and may not play in Game 3 on Friday. The AJC, citing an unnamed source with knowledge of the prognosis, said there's inflammation, but an MRI revealed that there was no structural damage.

The same source indicated that he would in all likelihood return for Game 4, which will be Sunday.

Boston has its own injury issues to worry about.

Ray Allen (right ankle) remains out and continues to be listed as day-to-day.
