Josh Jackson: Just not enough time to work out for Celtics

Kansas forward Josh Jackson, who reportedly was unwilling to work out with the Celtics unless he was assured they would select him with the third overall pick, told ESPN Wednesday that his decision not to meet with the C’s came down to scheduling.

Jackson, who could go as early as No. 3 on Thursday, implied he had assumed the C’s would take Markelle Fultz first overall, and that by the time the C’s traded their pick to Philly on Friday, there wasn’t enough time to schedule a workout.

"They did a little bit of moving around with their pick," Jackson said. "I felt like they made it pretty clear who they were going to draft with the No. 1 pick, so I didn't really feel like it was worth either of our times for me to work out with them, but then after they did the flip and went to No 3, by then it was too late."

Though Jackson has not worked out for the Celtics, it was reported Wednesday that the team had received his medical information. ESPN's Chad Ford believes the C's are leaning towards drafting Duke's Jayson Tatum at No. 3.

Asked whether his decision to skip a meeting with Boston could cause him to fall in the draft, he admitted that was a possibility, but that he was fine with where things stood.

"It could,” he said. “It may or may not, but like I said before, I'm just happy to be here. Wherever I end up Thursday, I'll be happy."
