Jabari Bird awaits sentencing for assault of ex-girlfriend

Jabari Bird made his plea on Monday and now awaits his sentencing for the assault of his ex-girlfriend.

The former Celtics guard pleaded to sufficient facts, which acknowledges a likely conviction at trial. He was released on bail following Monday's hearing and will be sentenced on May 28.

Bird was charged for strangulation or suffocation, kidnapping, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the September attack. According to ESPN, the victim addressed Bird within her statement in court. "The physical and psychological pain you have caused me will haunt me forever," she said.

The Celtics traded Bird to the Hawks, who later waived him, in February.
