Cyrus Jones a healthy scratch for Patriots vs. Broncos

The Patriots have made a decision on Cyrus Jones. He won't be returning punts on Sunday because he won't be in uniform.

The rookie second-round pick was designated as a healthy scratch against the Broncos along with running back DJ Foster, defensive lineman Woodrow Hamilton, offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle and receiver Michael Floyd.

Receiver Danny Amendola and safety Jordan Richards have also been made inactive due to ankle and knee injuries, respectively.

With Jones out, the Patriots will have Malcolm Butler, Eric Rowe, Logan Ryan, Justin Coleman and Jonathan Jones available to them at corner. Rowe is back in action after missing Monday's win over the Ravens due to a hamstring injury.

Watching how Patriots corners match with Denver's wideouts Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas will be one of the keys to the game as the Broncos have leaned on their passing game all season due to a struggling rushing attack.

The Patriots opted to use Patrick Chung and Julian Edelman in addition to Jones for punt-return duties last week, meaning those two could be in line to see the majority of the reps in that role at Mile High.

Jones has five fumbles on 18 touches this season as a punt and kick-returner.
