Doctor golden boot Lewis from Brigham and Women's Hospital good morning to both thanks for being. This morning in particular case just I don't do this because like I -- on inspiring to me that is incredible -- thank -- Thank -- and such did you expect doctor field memento for did you expect that ten years after this man was given the gift of life. That he'd be as vital as dynamic as is that I really did and the reason is because of where he was before. He was always an active person and in fact because of that and looked healthier than he really should have despite the hard failing. And so after he finished the transplant I knew that he was gonna get back to where he was four. You know Richard TV the need for organ donation so we got killed along the way you're inspiring people to think about it. Is it I don't know if that was the worst thing happens what might happen may we that we take your wife and eight and spend a little bit. If if we have Morgan Morgan's more people not to do what you do. That is correct and part of that I mean the main part of this right there's on the bike and off the -- On the bike was about giving me an opportunity to regain my let a -- Off the bike gives me an opportunity to honor minor organ donor and you know -- donor family. And also reach out to the transplant community and people that are waiting for hearts and bring awareness. Or organ donation Louis Richard reminds us that progress -- me all the time. That this a look at such a robust life and the difference maker we made a lot of progress in terms of heart transplantation in the last ten years. Absolutely so if you look at the overall outcomes post transplant they continue to improve. And also we're having fewer people dying on the waiting list and the reason is because we have mechanical system vices and we have other strategies that can be employed to try to. Help to keep people alive until they get to transplant. But unfortunately we're still limited you know mainly we're limited by organ donations so if you look at the total number of transplants in the United States -- states consistently at around 2000. Her for a per year -- -- if we can't Richard did you have a specific inspiration for this ride from Pittsburgh to boss. Well maybe we added Pittsburgh assists is a third tour that we have done my wife and I barber. And we had to Pittsburgh onto the list. Knowing. The first year where did it I was not aware whether the matter is -- going to be able to make. It had to cut up more than I could actually you know. But -- once I realized that I could do mileage. We added Pittsburgh onto the list. To -- there were two other transplant hospitals and Pittsburgh we've wanted to visit. And and so that the main inspiration came from. My wife being a cyclist herself and decided that maybe I should cycle instead of hitting the pavement again running. And so of the Tour de France. Can we were watching it light bulb came on -- toward a second chance and that was really the inspiration of thinking. That we could create this -- -- I'm an and an outlet for me to be able to. Pursued this goal still -- going to lose it to have a daughter who's in medical school in Pittsburgh right now ironically in the second week over carted studies. But was -- inspired -- this man. I'm inspired to do to continue to strive to do better. And the reason is because we won a wanna prevent the development -- we can. But B we want to try to come up with a better strategies for. And getting people as healthy as he is. After transplant and part of that is identifying people early. Keeping them healthy as are waiting to an Odyssey of for the fans that witnessed. Parker over Lewis and mr. gates thank you both very much for inspire us -- do just a bit better we can. It's important you.
