Welcome back to -- Park Fort Myers, Florida David Ortiz is still a few weeks away from game action but he continues to pass each physical -- today big hockey when you're in the agility drills. And some running without any issues he also took part in batting practice. Again Retief says he will be ready for opening day manager John Farrell actually didn't think it got like -- -- really need more than two weeks to. Inside pitch that CS NNE dot com Red Sox insider shot make adamant Ortiz. Getting out for setting his own timetable right now doesn't seem like he's rushing to get back. Isn't really possible for him to be ready and effective if he waits to the last minute knowing past two weeks to prepare. While training Ortiz is a little different than your average Major League hitter I think some -- that's been in the big leagues as long as he has. Probably could be ready inside of 25 or thirty at bats pitchers need more time at spring training that's why we're here six weeks instead of three. Position players get ready a lot quicker they get their timing down. But Ortiz is a guy who struggled badly in 2010 and 2011 the first couple months. Went a month without a home run and discovered that he needed to see a lot of like pitching in spring training. To sort of hit the ground running in the regular season starts he's not gonna happen that even if they go on the road trips even at the plate takes three or four bats every game so. Ordinarily it wouldn't be of a factor I think with -- Ortiz it's gonna be a little more problematic. It's only going to be one inning that everyone is anxious to see John Lackey on the mound tomorrow what do you need to see from him. You know but he's not -- a 100%. But -- at least on the right track to bounce back. Right one of the things that you'll be looking for is his use of the breaking ball he's thrown some in bull pens John Farrell talked about that earlier today. But I think there's probably a little bit of a mental hurdle when you've had that surgery you haven't faced Major League hitters. In almost eighteen months it was the final week of the 2011 season the last time we saw Lackey on the mound. At the end of last year he had a short two innings -- in the instructional league here. That's different controlled environment. This facing Major League hitters tomorrow so will there be any hesitation and spinning that first breaking ball. And any stress on the elbow when he gets through that and you want him down in the zone commanding the fastball all the things that regular pitchers wanna see and that's first bringing out. And my other -- injury update we should see Mike Napoli fairly soon. -- he's gonna run the bases on Sunday for the first time. That's sort of the end of that injury protocol the things he has to hurdle coming back. They'll have them do that probably three days in a row give them a day or so and I think we might see him in the lineup in game probably by next Friday. Right he has CS NNE dot com Red Sox insider Sean -- I'm trying to get -- that -- it. Or fired up before we leave you from Florida we gave you a bird's eye view of jetBlue park our photographer slightly think I'm -- -- I recognize half. Green monster where you look at the field at this from Fort Myers now. Just yeah.
