Now for our inside pitch with CS NNE dot com. Red Sox -- shot academy shot. First impression he hasn't just closed eighteen mind's right I'm John Lackey looked well. He really just handled the basics today tree he was not interested in throwing breaking balls says he usually doesn't do that -- for spring outing anyway to kind of get into the flow of things. It was all about just throwing fastballs one changeup velocity wasn't very frankly -- the mid to high eighties but again he's not exerting himself fully. And I think the whole thing was to. Get used to being out on the mound in a competitive situation you talked about how different it felt good being on a back field joint stadium to. And 500 people watching. There's a little bit more as you said adrenaline going. And I think it got away from him early but. He recovered pretty well allowed just one run retired the last three and exited feeling probably pretty good about the whole thing. -- know he said that at this point he is it really. Pay attention to results and quite frankly a lot of us didn't either because this seems like a completely different John Lackey -- it's clear now that the John Lackey make over does not get limited by the weight loss in the surgically repaired. Elbow I think he got a personality transplant somewhere along the way. He was easy going relaxed engaging. Just not what we're used to seeing John Lackey typically gets very defensive. Deflects a lot of questions. You know makes noises and happy with the what is being half says you guys gonna write whatever you. Whatever you're gonna ride anyway. But he really kind of seemed to enjoy the process today and that's something that we did not see much -- and John lackeys for two season. Should be pointed out he says he doesn't enjoy the media but he didn't. You've done that's going to NASCAR but he was more relax us. Jose Iglesias today gets into the game you to two run home run but let's face Steve injures at shortstop right now where is -- sees -- him this team well. If it's hard to imagine any sort of scenario where glee season breaks camp and makes the point five man roster on opening day. Because they need a backup infielder -- drew who's going to be the everyday shortstop. They need some of the plate second and third that's not part of the places tool bag so you have to go back to touch it. And continue to do what he did today which is drive the ball got in the happened the last couple years -- just slapping ball on the ground. And you know trying to get the ball through the infield usable but it's the -- the bulk up put some weight on the upper body. And drove that ball today just as you did a couple of days ago so he's starting to get the hang of that new more up right approach at the plate. And maybe that's what gets him back into the picture in the future with the Red Sox.
