Taking the -- -- Tom Brady's contract to the windows and extended another five years it will be open until the age of forty or at least. That is the plan however it's time moves on. Tick tock tick tock tick tucked in the window starts to close with a Patriots changed their philosophy. We bring in Chris Gasper -- your -- -- And I guess really what I'm saying here what a mask he's it would there be a sense of urgency all the all the way -- they feel the need to go off the track spend more money on free agency. Bringing different types of guys because as Brady gets older the chances to a Super Bowl. Go to guy I think is sort of done some of that stuff Garrett and you you brought in Chad -- you -- Jack picks for Albert Haynes worth. You took a chance a little bit of chance we some Brandon Lloyd I'm taking your agency has been you moved up in the draft. To improve your defense so I think the urgency is already there. I think for this gives us at what this gives him his money money to play with which they needed you know when you look at attacks recently it's a flat cap. Brady gives him some money to play with and go out and need to be able to -- and reader Dwight Freeney to come here and it can make a run at a championship. -- it's Smart play for an organization any organization to. What boys in the one year to load up to go for that championship or. Gillick the philosophy that says you tried the best to be ten over ten year period knocked the door hope you make it -- -- -- get a guy like this like Tom Brady at this point in his career loaded up because if you might never see another guy like this again in your lifetime. Mean you know you could get lucky maybe they will find the next Ron Amadon the next Aaron Rodgers. And I had to take a succession plan at San Francisco and Green Bay to bat but I. I'll tell you what you just don't know so I would maximize look I think the different deal for them when he was 26 and 27. Now he's going to be 36 in August I think you have to maximize his window while you have -- See I wonder if -- philosophy will change in that they won't be so offensive cents a meaning that it was all about the quarterback was all about giving him weapons. It's all about scored touchdowns when while we've learned think yes the league is more quarterback friendly you still need to get stops. And you still need to have a defense Sampras has got a great team they didn't have any corners so will the swing back to a defensive minded team I think they've tried to me is -- haven't tried -- that was the part of the team that got old sort of the fastest they've lost guys that debris it was numbers he's an Harrison's. And they try to replace him with some people they've been successful -- Jerod Mayo I think that's the success that -- Corner or safety I call that success but they've invested a lot of draft capital in trying to make that defense better and hasn't necessarily always panned out for them I think Brady. Makes a lot of guys not on that offense need to look a little bit better than -- are war he's able to integrate them a little bit faster. Well they haven't on the free agent -- will they do that within Ed Reed I know that they did it. Remember of course they had the Dennis Thomas experiment rode with the Dolphins -- they -- -- Rosey Colvin that was a good move but he got heart. But Thomas just didn't work out. Because that he just wasn't a good -- do you think that they feel that they get further than I could go back out because I mean you read it Freeney you know. They're veteran guys it's more like sort of adding your Rodney Harrison into the mix where -- and fight for something like that you know it's not like you're. Paying top dollar for in his prime defensive free agent these guys are past their prime that they can still help you and there are still upgrades so I don't think there's tremendous. Chris yeah I and that's exact kind of guy that I think they need I've been saying like you said -- dropped what looked across that defense -- first and second round picks I think they're starting that. Have the talent I think you'll get that he -- the side of the ball the talent is just about there are. They just don't play well together or they don't play well enough you know that the that this summer is not greater than the parts with that team and that's. That's a coaching thing that's a lack of veteran presence thing that's something that just that experience this group doesn't play well enough together and I think that's the next up that Patriots defense but the thing that you're talking about off the top a lot of people -- circled back today and said. What Tom Brady did here. Wasn't really all that altruistic that really wasn't much of a sacrifice for when you really think of it. I think you -- I think he did this time really sacrifice something namely free agency in the last little leverage you'll ever have as a pro. But others think that he didn't sacrificing the what do you and I. I think I think he did sack oppressed number one. Take the sack -- I'll get back then the second you don't make this move and lesser number one objective is winning OT put -- -- a lot more money out of them. In order to renegotiate to get the 59 cap space and he chose not to do that because he's doing it because he's the expectation is they'll get -- out. To go back to the sacrificing -- yet he still gets -- thirty million but I mean on the back end of that deal when you look at what the salaries are just those base salaries they're not very high again. He was in a situation where we're really just about him he could've -- basically extorted them into giving him eggs exorbitant salaries in the back in an ideal when he's. 383940. Years old the salaries that are plugging that dealer sellers reasoning I still want them to be able to get me help and oh by the way I still wanna be here I wanna have a salary so high that they say forget this let's get this guy out here. So and I do think that he took -- you know I do think he took one for the team I really do maybe not as much as we thought initially when you just look at the numbers three for 27. But I do think yet. Him some -- Okay Welker we believe will be signed soon we think so and lawyers. So that Lee's -- more mentally if you had to pick one would you pick to lead so I mean -- I mean I think you know look. I don't break down the tape like some other people do but he's the best they got maybe not as good as I think he is. You know I think certainly improved obviously they think he's halfway decent or they wouldn't be putting him on Andre Johnson and one bowl and it's like you can't beat that is suddenly I'm hearing he hit the or they wouldn't give up a fourth round pick form. Homer not that he's not a good player he has been the team that won Super Bowls failure on this but Tom Ashworth -- rating Gorin guys like that at right tackle if you Ray Robinson Randall Iraq in 2000 what if you -- left tackle different deal but he is a right tackle I think they can meet.
