Today's topic is leadership. Wish contemporary black athlete will be looked at as a leader. -- -- here twenty years from now we look into the future with our esteemed panel that Peter Roby the athletic director at Northeastern University we got Bob Ryan of the great columnist. From the Boston Globe and Cedric Maxwell Celtics hall of Famer so. Look into the future there Peter tell me which -- will we be talking about twenty years from now and say yes that's right. Well in LeBron James is someone that I'm in. I admire very much these -- Yeah it and not just because of his athletic schism. And his. Winning attitude the way shares ball things of his teammates first he's been doing that since he was in high school. He's he was such a mature guy from the time he was in high school. He was always thinking about what was best for team. He puts team first. Humble for guy that good. Loved his family. Has raised a good families good Family Guy. And -- what I loved about what he did when he left Cleveland was he exercised his right in the most respectful way. The CB bailout for him to do that when he was up with -- contract. And he went somewhere else. Now people will take that's what you said most respectful way and yes that is gonna say he -- think that he's he's the people take exception to the fact that he did it that way. And he probably regrets that now. But what I don't like is that people demonize them because he. He exercised his option and then the owner from the cavs demonized. And he just recently apologized for all of that as he should have. Because it was totally inappropriate so I think LeBron came out of that looking great. You won a championship he's led his team to the finals. He's a he's a man of the -- in my view in terms of his athleticism and the way he's carried himself. And I think we'll be talking mine for a long time that Max. I think bigger than that I go in -- magic Johnson and I'll go because. The whole thing with HIV. He has become a unbelievable business person. He has gone on to -- wood baseball team. He has changed what you believe about how black athletes have dominated war. Essentially lost money once they got two point. Magic is still losing money has been on the upswing he has been the face of Starbucks he's been face of the movie deals he has done. Essentially everything and I can imagine that he won't be doing that twenty years from now maybe even pointed to another direction. This is the kind of guy that is as much of that hated him as a player I have to admire him if there -- admired him war what he's done. Off the field off the floor he is going into another direction that none of us would ever had thought -- you mean black athlete. Would possibly go win the way magic heads with all the things he's done. It -- and at that point was even an interest. In NASCAR for a while you wanna talk about. A strange bedfellows direction you're okay you don't -- black -- the black basketball player. It just that NASCAR so he you're right he's done a number of this is longevity. What he said he was going to do over wanted to do by the way the path that he played this all out force he wanted to be an entrepreneur he always made a point of studying -- -- people took to touch there. And put the key thing about magic is that he's done this thing not just to make monies for -- -- -- but he's done in the black neighborhood he made it to them to refuse a place where blacks -- not have to -- -- the Starbucks where places where there -- places and that's the whole point of it for him. And and and -- love for that. I was gonna say the bunch who has -- one thing about LeBron. Is that done the misty day with those one could -- a mistake not only with the show bad idea didn't go off well. But then the pep rally thing was just part of the package of why people upset not one not two not three -- Other than the Cleveland most people forgotten them now forgiven him now because he has made amends and and I think he's he's growing before Korea. The Cavaliers. As they -- right now I have opened up room to possibly go back to get LeBron when he becomes a free agent and I heavy and what happened but just the idea of people letting me back yet. I think there will -- no better group that would start the start of her over there and your career -- yeah. It's hard out there at -- that's a possibility that when now. Want me to -- a local guy that I admire and I don't know what is planned far. And he may just wanna be a homebody okay. But if he chooses to assert himself I think could be a real good leader wherever he choose to be nets' Vince Wilfork. I'm very impressed with the way things were four carries himself and ended quiet dignity you can I can just see that that if it's just. It goes like this in the locker room that six guys are gonna go yes that's what would you like. Yeah and I I I get that sense with him. Does Jim or or give a look. Made -- -- have -- I have heard -- just not read intelligent things always come -- so what is your choice if he's so what do you guys you still alive because I think everybody's thinking the same way with LeBron. Because. LeBron is really following in the footsteps of Magic Johnson in terms of -- I'm a great player but I'm really into. Building communities that's one thing that. Now he left northeast Ohio and they're not happy about it. But I know a lot of folks there grew up there. And he is still very active in those communities in the truly rebuilding not. Just showing up and cutting the ribbon and shake hands and going -- he's trying to you know economically. Rebuild some of these places don't have that kind of kind of mentality. And you've got the resources that he has yet I think guys that he's gonna do it right it. I can't believe I'm saying that but LeBron James but I think it's clear.
