Felger and Mazz took a look at the Patriots secondary in an attempt to uncover why they have performed so atrociously of late

Spent a boatload of draft capital in the secondary. And the players seem to get worse it is it's alarming it's absolutely mind numbing and seeing who was usual 34 round as you know. And then but after that it's hard to find one we will what's closest you get Ellis Hobbs and Brandon Meriweather made two approvals. Which tells of the value of a probable but I thought he stock. They're they're safety played in particular has been absolutely abominable it it it's atrocious but you can you can you cannot possibly overstate how bad it is -- -- younger fans. You know. The younger kids are double. Wonder how how they went three super ovals. Well how -- -- -- -- championship caliber defense. And you look back and you say well who work more on those defense is what were the keys there are no one. It's Ty Law Otis Smith. Lawyer Malloy Tebucky Jones of all things to -- Buckley and number T buck tour join that team and a one way you look at it. No kids I -- rolled all the Smith Otis Smith was in his mid to late thirties by that point. Ty Law in his prime and beyond moral or Malloy prime and beyond arm. Tebucky Jones it all again. Not old by that juncture but was no Rocky is in his fourth year I think figure. And allow those guys have been drafted by someone else coached by someone else develop by somebody else and I think there's a certain thing where all the players worked better with bill Belichick's much in the secondary. Adjustments all that heady stuff that bill wants to do older players can figure out and obviously. Ty -- could do -- in lawyer could do it in the -- a great move with Rodney Harrison brilliant. And one of the best signings Bill Belichick ever made and it all works veteran Smart football players work while Belichick. Well since you've had to start over. And either bringing guys and outside the system without Rodney Harrison next two or draft guys to become the next Ty Law. Yes -- had the success it just doesn't work they don't maybe you don't speak the same language or whatever it is something is missing there -- they look. I -- so discouraged -- They're really him because I thought after the draft might kill him and get Jones around I tower I thought. And the and the way -- finished at the end of last year I thought that they're turning a corner this is gonna get better now and early in the aren't really thought it was out. And I look at it now obviously you know what he's gonna do what he did last year now he's got to move according -- safety. And maybe that's the way to go find some solution here. But if they're playing the way the way it's constituted right now doesn't work.
