Transcript
Believe it or not that goal was two months ago tomorrow a year ago at this time the Bruins are down to Vancouver three games to two and focused on coming back to win the Stanley Cup. This year they've had plenty of time to handle business affairs getting ready for. Next year and they didn't have to look far to fill two roster spots coming to terms with Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell to return. To the team. It's a four year deal for Kelly that will pay him twelve million dollars over the length of the deal he's been a steady reliable player. Since coming to Boston via trade in February 11 last year he had 39 points -- the plus 33. Campbell has played his role well the defensive forward signed for three years at a total of four point eight million. He came to the Bruins after the 110 season. They are -- press -- gives us access to Bruins insider Joseph Hagerty may not be a huge story to bring these two guys back Joba Bruins fans. They know the value. Of Kelly and Campbell. Yeah definitely and I think the Bruins -- organization knows the value you value of Kelly Campbell more importantly we've all seen what this team. That it's built through the middle of the center position the strength is in the middle that's how you build -- into our hockey club that's why -- happened -- that kind of success that they've. You bring in Kelly who had a career year he gets the four years to get three million maybe a little bit more than you might have affected. It but I think he earned it with the year he had twenty goals among the top ten plus minus in the NHL I think we're better teammates around him. He could replicate that kind of season that kind of career year. They got Gregory Campbell who at one point six million per year for three years yes. I think that might be a little on the steep side for fourth liner but. The Bruins are comfortable both these guys are now free go. All fourth senators they have locked up for the next two years and three out of the war they have locked up for three years so they've solidified that middle of the forward spot. And they really strength in the middle of that line and the roster. They're certainly looks very similar we all understand there's one big difference and that's in goal looking forward to next year but other than that this looks to be pretty much the same team would say. Yeah I don't expect Tim Thomas to ever play -- with the Bruins again I don't think he's ever gonna put that uniform on he is gone. But almost everybody else is coming back with these two signings. You've got almost the entire forward group still have been -- as a restricted free agents they can bring him back maybe they'd bring one more forward -- that -- We gonna see almost all the same core guys next here in the forward position. And yes there's one defenseman spot it's opened up I think -- Hamilton's could probably gonna win that out of camp that's a big upgrade out over Joseph corps ball. But aside from the goaltending position with the same group of guys. The Bruins ownership and the Bruins management decided. The band is gonna stay together in the gonna try to for a couple more years to try to win some more cops and see how far they can go it's gonna be challenged about the Conn smythe winner. But the Bruins have shown in the past that they can do it.
