FOXBORO -- The New England Revolution were without their biggest offensive threat, in Jerry Bengtson, for Saturday's home opener at Gillette Stadium. And while their offense struggled mightily to produce scoring chances, their defense and goalkeeping was good enough to grab a point in a scoreless draw against Sporting KC.

After missing last weekend's game with a knee injury, veteran Matt Reis got the start on Saturday, and he made his biggest save in the 73rd minute, as Sporting KC forward Claudio Bieler came streaking down the left side of the field all alone after receiving a long ball. But Reis came out and cut off the angle, forcing Bieler to kick it right into Reis' hands, keeping the game scoreless.

The Revolution finished the game with zero shots on goal, and only three shot attempts, while Sporting KC had five shots on goal and 13 shot attempts.

But a point is a point is a point.
