Revs goalie Matt Reis is one of the many who have been directly impacted by Monday's tragedy. His father-in-law was injured in the bombings at the Boston Marathon.

"He's doing OK," Reis told RevolutionSoccer.net. "He's still in critical condition. He was alert this morning, but you know, he's been through three surgeries now in the last 40 hours or so.

"He hasn't really stabilized yet. We're still hoping. But he's progressing a little. But we are talking footsteps here, and not very big strides."

Reis explained that it's been difficult for him and his family to deal with the aftermath of the bombings over the last few days.

"We're trying to the best we can. We've been through a roller coaster of emotions," Reis said. "We've been happy and sad and pretty much everything. We're trying to be strong."

Though Reis said his father-in-law still isn't "out of the woods yet," their family has appreciated all the support it's received from fans and neighbors.

"I just wanted to let them know that all the love and prayers and special thoughts that have been sending me haven't gone unnoticed," Reis said.
