With the lockout over, the Boston Red Sox are reportedly down a reliever.

Multiple reports have Martin Perez, who spent the last two seasons with the team, returning to the Texas Rangers on a one-year, $4 million deal.

Perez, who turns 31 next month, appeared in 48 games with 34 starts for the Red Sox since signing with the team after the 2019 season. He went 3-5 in 12 starts with a 4.50 earned run average in 2020 and started the '21 season in the rotation as well before being demoted to the bullpen in early August.

In 14 appearances out of the bullpen, Perez had a 4.50 ERA after going 7-8 with a 4.77 ERA in 22 starts.

Perez, a native of Venezuela, originally signed with the Rangers as an international free agent in 2007. He deputed for Texas in the majors in 2012 and remained there through the 2018 season before joining the Minnesota Twins.
