Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona is taking a leave of absence for the remainder of the 2021 MLB season to address his health.
The former Boston Red Sox skipper will undergo a left hip replacement on Monday, according to MLB.com's Mandy Bell. He'll also have a permanent rod put in his foot five or six weeks later start the healing process after having surgery on a toe steph infection in February.
DeMarlo Hale will take over as interim manager for Cleveland.
