Report: Patriots claim WR Malcolm Perry off waivers from Dolphins

The New England Patriots reportedly made another roster move Wednesday, claiming wide receiver Malcolm Perry off waivers from the Miami Dolphins.

NFL Media's Tom Pelissero tweeted the full waiver claim list, which includes Perry:

The Patriots did not have any of the players they waived get claimed by other teams. As a result, those players are now eligible to go on New England's practice squad.

Perry is a versatile player. He played quarterback in college at Navy but mostly saw time at running back and wide receiver as a rookie for the Dolphins last season.Ā

The 24-year-old tallied nine receptions for 92 receiving yards and a touchdown, in addition to three carries for five rushing yards over nine games with Miami in 2020.

The Dolphins selected Perry in the seventh round (246th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has a strong affinity for the Naval Academy, so it's not a surprise that he targeted a talented player on waivers with a Navy background.
