Morning Skate: Marchand has some fun on Twitter, Sean Avery rips him for licking

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while life goes on for the Stanley Cup playoffs without the Bruins.

*Brad Marchand woke up today officially in offseason mode, and he started off the day by roasting the Canadiens after they tried to poke fun at him for licking stuff on the ice. The Canadiens really aren’t in a position to be talking trash to anybody.

*Speaking of Marchand, Sean Avery weighed in on his actions during the playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He didn’t have many nice things to say. You know what sentence I’ve never uttered in my life: “I wonder what Sean Avery thinks about this?” Go away, dude. You’re a washed up loud mouth that was never really as interesting, funny or provocative as you thought you were.

*Here’s the hat trick of thoughts on Brad Marchand with Jack Todd lumping Marchand Drake into the same column together. Interesting. Here’s something to keep in mind on Marchand when everybody takes shots at him: Only Alex Ovechkin and Vladimir Tarasenko have scored more goals than him over the last three seasons, so we’re talking about a true star player. I've seen some hot take buffoons spitting that the Bruins should trade him because of this recent controversy, but that's about the dumbest thing I've heard given that the licking stuff had no real consequences, his superstar production and the fact he's signed for only $6.125 million for the long-term future. Marchand is a Bruin, and probably will be one forever.

*The Vegas Golden Knights continue to be the Cinderella story in the NHL this season, and Marc-Andre Fleury is at the top of the Conn-Smythe Power Rankings.

*A good piece on the Humboldt Broncos and being Saskatchewan Strong from TSN’s (and FOH, Friend of Haggs) Frank Seravalli.

*For something completely different: Tom Brady spoke last week, and some of the things not drummed up by the media were pretty interesting as well.
