Red Sox pitching prospect Brayan Bello has been added to the American League roster for the 2021 MLB Futures Game, replacing Seattle's Emerson Hancock, according to Baseball America's JJ Cooper.

Bello joins infield prospect Jeter Downs as the two Boston representatives at the Futures Game, set for July 11 at Coors Field. Two days later, five Red Sox players will take the field in the 2021 MLB All-Star Game.

A 22-year-old Dominican Republic native, Bello began the 2021 season in Single-A Greenville and posted a 2.27 ERA in six starts with 45 strikeouts over 31.2 innings. He was called up to Double-A Portland on June 8 and owns a 3.45 ERA with 19 strikeouts over 15.2 innings for the Sea Dogs.

Bello is the 18th-ranked prospect in Boston's organization, per MLB.com, but could rise on that list if he continues to pitch well, and the right-hander will have the chance to showcase his stuff against the game's best young players Sunday in Denver.
