Morning Skate: Chiarelli to run Young Stars team at World Cup

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading with less than a month to go until the regular season opener for the Boston Bruins.

*According to a report in Pro Hockey Talk, Peter Chiarelli is going to be named GM of the Young Stars team for the World Cup.

*Kings players are staying focused on the game amidst all of the off-the-ice issues with the LA players, according to Pierre Lebrun.

*Flyers star Jakub Voracek is being incredibly active with the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, and with good reason behind it.

*It’s hilarious video watching the NHL rookies guess their “NHL 16” ratings, according to the Hockey News. Okay maybe it’s not hilarious. A squirrel on water skis is hilarious. But it’s sort of amusing anyway.

*Evgeni Malkin thinks his new teammate Phil Kessel is capable of scoring at least 50 goals with the Penguins. I think there are way too many offensive players on that roster, and not enough guys to do the dirty work.

*Jimmy Howard is ready for a battle with Petr Mrazek for the starting goaltender spot with the Detroit Red Wings.

*Duncan Keith thinks that the Chicago Blackhawks will be able to repeat as Stanley Cup champions. I’m not so sure given the Patrick Kane dark cloud that is hanging over that entire franchise right now.

*Injured Noah Hanifin won’t be attending the rookie tournament with the rest of his Carolina Hurricanes rookie prospects.

*For something completely different: an excellent list of the 10 best “one season wonder” TV shows from Alan Sepinwall. I’m very upset that Misfits of Science didn’t make the list.
