Semien came crashing back down to earth in 2020 following a 2019 season in which he placed third in MVP voting. The talent is clearly there, but teams looking to sign him will have to temper expectations as that ridiculous '19 campaign was an outlier.

UPDATE (Jan. 26): Semien and the Blue Jays have agreed to a one-year, $18 million deal.

Gregorius set himself up for a lucrative deal this offseason by slashing .284/.339/.448 with 10 homers and 40 RBIs in 2020. Over the last few years, the former Yankee has established himself as one of the best offensive shortstops in baseball.

UPDATE (Jan. 30): The Phillies are bringing Gregorious back on a two-year deal worth $28 million, per The Athletic's Jayson Stark and Ken Rosenthal.

With Simmons, any offensive production is just icing on the cake. The veteran shortstop is one of the best defensive players in the game, and that should automatically make him a coveted free agent this offseason.

UPDATE (Jan. 26): Simmons reportedly is heading to the Twins on a one-year deal worth $10.5 million.

The O's will have to decide whether to exercise Iglesias' $3.5 million option. The former Red Sox shortstop was quietly outstanding at the plate for Baltimore in 2020, hitting .373 in 39 games. Where he'll make his money, however, is with his tremendous defense.

UPDATE (Dec. 2): The Angels have acquired Iglesias in a trade after the Orioles exercised his 2021 contract option.

Another shortstop who makes his mark with his defensive prowess, Galvis should be a solid affordable option for teams looking for middle-infield help this offseason. He was solid offensively in 2019 as well, hitting 23 homers between Toronto and Cincinnati.
