For McCourty brothers, bragging rights up for grabs

FOXBOROThe McCourty Twins, Devin and Jason, do pretty much everything the same way.

They look the same. They act the same. They play the same sportand position. They share the same Twitter account. And they recently just bought their mom, Phyllis Harrell, a new house.

Heck, Devin and Jason McCourty could probably switch uniforms on Sunday and nobody would notice.

No doubt, Devin has heard plenty about the similarities between him and his brother over the last week of preparation before his Patriots and Jason's Titans face off on Sunday.

"I always thought we were kind of similar, but everyone keeps telling me that we're exactly the same on the field," Devin McCourty said on Wednesday. "So hearing all the offensive guys come up to me saying that, I guess we're more similar than I thought.

"Everyone keeps saying that not just the style, but exactly how we move, talking about just jogging on and off the field they say it looks exactly the same."

Everybody may be talking about them, but they aren't talking to each otherat least not for the last week or so. It's all business for the two until the game is over.

"I actually told him to delete my number from his phone," McCourty said. "Not taking any of his text messages or phone calls this week. I'll probably start talking to him right after the game on Sunday."

Oh to be a fly on the wall for that postgame conversation. The twins have been a competitive pair since birthafter all, one beat the other then, right? The battles between the two go way back. Not on the football field, where Devin says the two have never been on opposing sides, but on the basketball court.

"Yeah, probably the most competitive thing growing up was basketball," he said. "We would play for hours and just go at each other. Sometimes to the point where my mom had to come out and stop the game. Also, video games. That always got ugly."

As to who ruled the court, you can probably guess Devin's answer to that. Then again, he also claims he's Mama McCourty's favorite son.

"I would say she likes me more. I think it's just the way it was growing up, she's always had me as her favorite. I believe she's going to wear a half-and-half jersey, but rumor is she's going to wear a Patriots t-shirt under."

Patriots t-shirt or Titans t-shirt, you can bet the McCourty family is hoping for a nice, low scoring game. And when it's all over, the twins can get back to their brotherly love. No hard feelings, right, Devin?

"I wouldn't say that."
