Morning Skate: A kinder, gentler NHL?

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world and what I’m reading while loving the George W. Bush/Will Ferrell return to Saturday Night Live last night.

*The NHL is taking big steps toward being a kindler, gentler league, but is that a good thing in the grand scheme of things?

*The Flames win their ninth game in a row at the Saddledome, and are being carried on the slight shoulders of Johnny Gaudreau.

*Dylan Larkin certainly looks like he’s returning into the next superstar for the Detroit Red Wings.

*Ryan Getzlaf spent Friday ripping his struggling Anaheim Ducks team for a “lack of professionalism” that has them stumbling this season.

*Shane Doan returns to the Arizona Coyotes lineup after a lengthy injury absence and the Desert Dogs could really use him.

*John Tortorella has changed the bench he’s leading from behind, but he hasn’t changed his style at all in Columbus.

*Larry Brooks says there’s another brewing rift between the NHL and NHLPA over the expansion draft rules.

*The Lou Lamoriello move is working out for the Toronto Maple Leafs and clearly for the New Jersey Devils as well.

*For something completely different: it looks like the Farrelly Brothers are lending their Hollywood influence toward getting Tony C’s number retired.
