NBA rumors: Latest free-agent buzz surrounding Marcus Morris, brother Markieff

Share

Many of the top NBA free agents have already agreed to contracts with teams since the market opened Sunday at 6 p.m. ET, but there still are several good players for teams to pursue.

Of course, the biggest domino yet to fall is Kawhi Leonard. The reigning NBA Finals MVP reportedly is weighing a return to the Toronto Raptors or taking his talents to sunny California to join the Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers.

Leonard's decision could be impacting some of the other remaining free agents because teams that miss out on the superstar forward will be forced to target Plan B and Plan C. One of the better Plan Bs is veteran forward Marcus Morris, as well as his twin brother, Markieff. Both are unrestricted free agents.

Yahoo! Sports' Ben Rohrbach provided the latest information on the Morris twins' situation Tuesday:

Marcus, more so than Markieff, would be an excellent addition to a championship contender. He's a versatile player able to play and defend multiple positions. Marcus averaged 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 37.5 percent from 3-point range for the Boston Celtics last season. He also shot a career-best 84.4 percent from the free throw line. Let's not forget Marcus brings a level of toughness that teams need in the playoffs.

Whenever Leonard makes his decision, contending teams would be wise to go after the Morris twins. They are among the most talented and most experienced free agents still available.
