NBA Rumors: Isaiah Thomas agrees to one-year deal to join the Wizards

Former Celtic and free agent point guard Isaiah Thomas agreed to a one-year contract to join the Washington Wizards, according to Adrian Wojnarowski

Thomas only played 12 games for the Nuggets last season after recovering from hip surgery. Denver was in the middle of a playoff race when he returned, so Thomas fell out of the rotation.

After two straight All-Sar selections and a Second Team All-NBA selection with the Celtics, Thomas was traded in a package that brought Kyrie Irving to Boston. A hip injury he sustained during the 2016-17 season kept him from producing at the level he was capable with the Cavs and Lakers in 2017-18.

There was some hope that the Celtics would bring Thomas back in free agency to add scoring depth off the bench and help the guard resurrect his career, but he was reportedly never in their plans this offseason.

John Wall is expected to be sidelined for most of, if not all of next season, so an opportunity might be there for Thomas to remind everyone how productive he can be.
