List of Red Sox in Olympics includes four international prospects

Boston Red Sox fans looking to watch the team's prospects in Tokyo this summer don't have to wait for Team USA to take the field.

We already know that the Red Sox' top prospect, corner infielder Triston Casas, and Triple-A Worcester outfielder Jack Lopez are on the 2021 USA Baseball roster for the 2020 Olympics.

But they're not the only players in Boston's organization heading to Japan: Three Red Sox prospects are featured on the Dominican Republic's official roster that was released Thursday night, while a fourth Sox minor leaguer will play for Mexico in the Summer Games.

Here's a quick rundown of the six Red Sox prospects who will complete in Tokyo beginning July 27 at Yokohama Stadium:

Team USA: INF Triston Casas, OF Jack Lopez

The No. 30 prospect in Major League Baseball per MLB.com, Casas is the highest-ranked prospect on Team USA. The 21-year-old is hitting .268 with four home runs and 24 RBIs for Double-A Portland this season.

Lopez has spent nine seasons in the minors after the Kansas City Royals drafted him in 2011 and is enjoying a strong season in the minors, batting .317 in 36 games for Portland before earning a call-up to Worcester.

Dominican Republic: P Denyi Reyes, OF Johan Mieses, C Roldani Baldwin

Reyes sports a 2.72 ERA through 36.1 innings with Portland this season and has a commanding mound presence at 6-foot-4, 255 pounds.

Mieses is showcasing impressive power in the minors this season with a combined 14 home runs and 31 RBIs in 40 games split between Worcester and Portland.

Baldwin has 18 hits in 24 games at catcher for the Sea Dogs this season and has thrown out 50% of potential base stealers (3 for 6).

Mexico: UTIL Joey Meneses

Meneses leads the Sea Dogs in both hits (54) and RBIs (41) through 44 games and trails only Mieses in home runs with nine. The 29-year-old has played in Japan before as well, spending the 2019 season with the Orix Buffaloes of the Nippon Professional Baseball league.

The Dominican Republic will be the first of these three teams to take the field when they face Japan on July 27 in the group stage opener.
