Report: I.T. to play for fellow ex-Celtic in G League

Isaiah Thomas is getting another chance to prove he still belongs in the NBA.

The former Boston Celtics star has signed with the Denver Nuggets' G League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. That'll make it two ex-Celtics guards on the team as Jason Terry will be Thomas' head coach.

Forsberg: Jaylen's return could save the season or expedite big changes

Thomas will compete in the G League Showcase, which is set to run from Dec. 19-22 in Las Vegas. There, the 32-year-old will have the opportunity to play in front of NBA scouts and show he deserves a spot on an NBA roster.

It's been a tumultuous few years for Thomas since being traded from the Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2017 deal that brought Kyrie Irving to Boston. He lasted only 15 games in Cleveland before being sent to the Los Angeles Lakers and bouncing around with the Nuggets, Washington Wizards, and most recently the New Orleans Pelicans. A hip injury -- which he claims is now fully healed -- derailed the two-time All-Star's electrifying career.

Despite the unceremonious ending to his C's tenure, Thomas still holds a special place in the hearts of Boston fans and the feeling is mutual. All eyes will be on "the Little Guy" as he begins his latest comeback attempt, and he'll have his former city rooting him on along the way.
