Morning Skate: Matt Duchene a Senators trade target?

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while the New England Patriots are already starting to churn with offseason workouts. Wow, the time is flying.

*Matt Duchene is one of the likeliest players to be traded this summer, and FOH (Friend of Haggs) Elliotte Friedman believes that the Ottawa Senators might be the team to seek him in efforts to get over the hump. This season’s playoff run could, and should, encourage them to make at least one more big move with their team.

*Sidney Crosby saying he didn’t try to throw a water bottle feels a lot like Rick James saying he didn’t kick dirt on Eddie Murphy’s couch, doesn’t it?

*New York Islanders coach Doug Weight says that putting emphasis on offseason preparation will pay dividends during the season.

*Speaking of NHL coaches, Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon lays out how their search is going for a coach. Some of their top college candidates don’t seem to be interested in taking the gig. It will be interesting to see the role that a new bench boss plays when it comes to the roster and the day-to-day deployment of players.

*Mike Milbury says that PK Subban had last night’s pile-driver to the ice coming to him courtesy of Sidney Crosby. It’s hard to disagree given the way he got in Crosby’s grill over the last few games prior to Game 5.

*Speaking of the Stanley Cup Final, it’s getting heated with the Predators CEO calling one Pittsburgh media member a “schmuck” after he attempted to portray Nashville’s crowd noise as a fraud. This kind of hatred between the two teams is setting up for a couple of pretty good final games provided this thing goes seven games.

*For something completely different: Poor Jerry Seinfeld is feeling the wrath from Kesha fans after the hug that never happened. Can’t a guy just not be interested in hugging random people when he doesn’t know who they are?
