Rodney Harrison passionately praises Bill Belichick in Patriots Hall of Fame speech

Rodney Harrison thanked many people during his speech at Monday night's Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Gillette Stadium, and he gave a special, passionate shout out to his former head coach, Bill Belichick.

Belichick coached Harrison for six seasons, and his decision to pursue the veteran safety in free agency after the 2002 season helped the Patriots win back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 2003 and 2004.

Harrison, wearing his red Patriots HOF jacket, heaped praise on Belichick in his remarks, calling the eight-time Super Bowl champion the best coach in the history of sports.

Belichick stepped to the mic soon after Harrison's speech, and he had plenty of kind words for the talented defensive back.

"You ever heard a more humble, passionate speech than that?" Belichick asked the crowd. "The way he connects with people. There it is. That's what I saw the whole time he was here. Rodney was a fantastic player. Everything he did was at an elite level."

Belichick, after saluting former Patriots cornerback Ty Law (who also was in attendance Monday) for his recent selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, gave an endorsement for Harrison to one day join him in Canton. Harrison "deserves to be there," noted Belichick.

Harrison was one of the original 103 nominees for the 2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame class, but he was not among the 25 semifinalists announced in November.
