Monday, April 18: Reilly Smith always had a fan in Johnny Boychuk

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m watching while marveling at all of the people running a 26.2 mile road race through the city of Boston today.

-- PHT writer and FOH (Friend of Haggs) Mike Halford has an exhausted Roberto Luongo needing a rest after playing three games in four days, and facing the reality of being 2-1 to the Islanders in the playoff series.

-- Luke Richardson is leaving the Ottawa Senators organization after being passed over once again for their head coaching gig.

-- Johnny Boychuk said he knew all along that Reilly Smith had the offensive goods to do what he’s doing for Florida right now.

-- Tyler Seguin has irritated something after coming back quickly from an Achilles injury, and is out for Game 3 for the Dallas Stars.

--- Justin Abdelkader dismissed the chicken taunt from Brian Boyle during the Detroit/Tampa series. I’d dismiss it ,too, since its one college hockey player questioning the toughness of another college hockey player.

-- Youngsters Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart are forming a dynamic with the Buffalo Sabres after one year together.

-- The Blues catch a couple of breaks against the Chicago Blackhawks and regain home-ice advantage in their series.

-- For something completely different: Tom Brady gives a shout out to one of the Marathon bombing survivors running the race with a prosthetic leg today. Congrats to her, and “Boston Strong!” to everybody out there running this afternoon.
