MONTREALIt looked bad in the first couple of minutes when Zdeno Chara was guilty of a too-many-men-on-the-ice penalty. It looked like, once again, the Bruins would be climbing an uphill battle. But the Bs overcame some early adversity and ended up taking home a 4-2 victory in Game 3 to claw their way back into the series. They now trail, 2-1, and have an interesting rematch at Bell Centre Thursday.
Tim Thomas let in a pair of five-hole goalsone each in the second and thirdbut held on for dear life in the final half of the third period for a badly-needed victory. The Bs killed off the vaunted Habs power play, and the combined efforts of Dennis Seidenberg and Patrice Bergeron helped give the Black and Gold their first lead of the series. Seidenberg dangled the puck at the blue line to keep it in the zone, moved it to Bergeron along the side boards and connected with David Krejci for a one-time goal.Nathan Horton pushed the lead to 2-0 when he collected a Chara blast off the back board and slipped a shot in behind Carey Price for his first career goal in the Stanley Cup playoffs.Rich Peverley built the Bruins' lead to 3-0 after a botched Price clear turned into a Boston open net goal, but the Canadiens werent close to done scratching and clawing.
Price started the run off when he stoned Milan Lucic on a breakaway, and Andrei Kostitsyn stormed back to slide a backhand through Thomas pads after blowing past Chara.A Tomas Plekanec spin into a forehand also slipped through the five-hole of Thomas. The Bruins' goalie was barely protecting a one-goal lead for nearly the entire third period while making 14 spectacular stops. Chris Kelly added an empty netter to ice the game for Boston.
