Linus Ullmark became the latest player to join the injury list for the Boston Bruins when he left after the first period of Thursday night's 3-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators at TD Garden.

The veteran goaltender took a hard shot off the facemask in the first period, finished the frame but didn't come back out for the second period. He also didn't participate in Friday's practice at Warrior Ice Arena.

Bruins face tough schedule to end regular season as seeding battle ramps up

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters Friday that Ullmark is considered day-to-day, and that he won't play Saturday when the team hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Rookie netminder Jeremy Swayman will start against the Penguins, per Cassidy. Providence Bruins goalie Troy Grosenick will be Swayman's backup.

Losing Ullmark for any amount of time is a real setback for the Bruins. The Swedish goalie has been playing fantastic of late, posting a .922 save percentage and a 2.05 GAA since Feb. 24.
