Pastrnak signed a six-year, $40 million contract with the Bruins in September 2017.

Pastrnak signed the deal with the Bruins at 21 years old and can become an unrestricted free agent at age 27, after his ninth NHL season.Ā 

Through eight NHL seasons, Pastrnak has earned more than $35 million.

David Pastrnak's amateur and minor league career

Pastrnak did not play college hockey in the United States, instead playing junior and professional hockey in Sweden before joining the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

He played parts of two seasons forĀ Sodertalje SK in HockeyAllsvenskan, the second-highest level of pro hockey in Sweden. He tallied 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 47 games between the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.

Pastrnak joined the Providence Bruins after being drafted but was called up to Boston in November 2014. He'd spend a total of 28 games in the AHL over parts of two seasons, recording 32 points (12 goals, 20 assists).

Pastrnak has represented the Czech Republic in numerous international competitions, winning a silver medal on the Czech U-18 team at the 2014 World Junior Championship.
