FOXBORO -- The New England Revolution lost their first match of the season on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium, and they also lost two players in the process to straight red cards.

Captain Shalrie Joseph and midfielder Pat Phelan both received straight red-card ejections in the second half, and will be unavailable for New England's next match.

The frustration was perhaps stemming from Real Salt Lake's 2-0 lead, and eventual win. Chris Schuler put Salt Lake up 1-0 in the 27th minute, after he charged the goal and headed a corner kick past Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth.

Arturo Araujo Jr. made it 2-0 in the 47th minute, when he received a perfect lead pass from Collen Warner down the right wing and finished a breakaway with a low kick, near side, and into the back of the net.
