Revs to announce Jay Heaps as new head coach

The New England Revolution have announced that former defender Jay Heaps will be named as their new head coach.

Heaps played for the Revolution from 2001-2009 and retired from the game after the 2009 season.

After his retirement Heaps worked as color commentator for Revolution games on Comcast Sportsnet New England.

He takes over for former coach Steve Nicol who coached the Revolution for ten seasons with a career record of 112-108-81.

Heaps will be introduced in a press conference at Gillette Stadium at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
