Earlier Wednesday, Matt Light was rather coy about his future plans. And now, apparently, we know why.
Pro Football Talk, quoting a "source with knowledge of the situation", reported late Wednesday afternoon that Light has decided to retire. There's no word on when an announcement will be made, and PFT's Mike Florio speculates "the Patriots would like to keep it under wraps until after the draft, so that a replacement on the depth chart can be selected".
Light was a second-round pick out of Purdue in 2001 and, with Tom Brady and Kevin Faulk, was one of three remaining members of the '01 team that upset the Rams in the Super Bowl.
