According to various reports, the Red Sox will add pitcher Junichi Tazawa and outfielder Joey Gathright to the active roster on Tuesday.
WEEI.com reported that the Sox will recall Tazawa, who pitched this year for Portland and Pawtucket after recovering from 2010 Tommy John surgery. He would be used out of the bullpen.
MLB and NESN baseball analyst Peter Gammons said in a Tweet that the Sox had called up Gathright, signed as a free agent toward the end of the minor-league season. He would be used as a pinch-runner and backup outfielder.
