Report: Kalish had neck surgery Wednesday

Ryan Kalish had surgery to repair a bulging disc in his neck on Wednesday, according to Alex Speier of WEEI. He will rest for 10 days before beginning arehabilitation process that will last six to eight weeks.

Kalish, 23, played in 16 games with Pawtucket this season before landing on the DL with a torn labrum. After a two-game rehab stint in Lowell, he appeared in eight more games with Pawtucket, batting .161 before returning to the DL with a neck injury.

The outfield prospect appeared in 54 games with Boston as a rookie season in 2010. He hit .252.305.405 with four home runs and ten steals.
