Rob Bradford at WEEI.com reports that shortstop Jose Iglesias will report to Triple-A Pawtucket to start the season. He is one of four shortstops currently on the Pawtucket roster.
Iglesias played a combined 40 games last season between Double-A Portland and Single-A Lowell.
He hit .285 in 20 games for Portland before injuring his right hand. He was later sent down to Lowell where he played 20 more games, hitting .350.
Iglesias had an impressive spring training for the Sox, hitting .320 in 15 games. With Jed Lowrie and Marco Scutaro currently the 1-2 punch at shortstop for the Red Sox, there should be a close eye kept on the production the PawSox get out of Iglesias.
